Jasper Chan

Head of Operations /
General Secretary

Jasper Chan is a former dragon‑boater turned arm‑wrestler who first stepped to the table in 2019 and now leads Singapore’s fastest‑growing combat‑strength sport.

Elected President of Singapore Armwrestling (SGAW) in 2023, he juggled three roles—athlete, official and organiser—while steering the federation’s push for national‑sport recognition and wider media coverage. After completing his two‑year term, he stepped down to become SGAW’s Head of Operations and General Secretary, continuing to drive day‑to‑day execution and strategic initiatives. His portfolio spans event operations, referee development and athlete welfare

Since 2021, Jasper has competed regularly, finishing third and then second at the Singapore National Armwrestling Championships in 2021 and 2022. He finished top three in the 70 kg class at the 2022 Asian Championships, placed ninth (left) and 12th (right) at the 2023 World Championships, and earned second (left) and third (right) in the Pro Men 80 kg division at the 2024 Singapore Nationals

He is also one of only three certified arm‑wrestling referees in Singapore, alongside Valen Low and Tay Jia Jun, and can be found officiating national‑level events, super‑matches and local tournaments hosted by SGAW and other partner clubs.

Beyond the podium and the referee stand, Jasper co‑founded The Sweaty People, a bustling community club whose weekly sessions have become the sport’s de‑facto grassroots hub. What began as a single ad‑hoc practice table in Tiong Bahru now attracts upwards of 20 athletes every week, and together with co‑founder Shawn Lim, Jasper runs the popular annual “Underground” micro‑tournament series.
