About the event
Details & Specific Rules and Regulations for this Competition:
Weigh-ins:
- Weigh-ins will be conducted at 3 Buckley Road the night before the competition (6 September, from 6 PM to 9 PM) or on the day of the competition.
- No tolerance will be allowed (not even 0.1 kg). The same scale will be used regardless of when you choose to complete the weigh-in. We will bring this scale to the competition.
- If you do not make weight the night before, an additional fee of $10 will be incurred as we will need to adjust the brackets with minimal time. If you do not make weight on the morning of the competition, a $20 fee will be incurred due to even less time for adjustments. These amounts are fees for the additional work involved and serve as an incentive to make weight; they will not be donated to charity.
- If you have registered for multiple weight categories and do not make the lightest weight, the same fee will apply.
- All participants will have their photo taken on the scale, which will be uploaded to a shared public folder to ensure fairness. For weigh-ins the night before, participants may need to hold up their phone showing the date and time to prove that it was completed within the designated timeframe.
Registration & Verification:
- On the day of the competition, all participants must arrive at the venue before 9:00 AM and bring a valid form of identification to confirm their age.
- If weigh-ins were not completed the night before (which is recommended), they will need to be done at the venue.
- ID photos will not be taken or uploaded to protect the privacy of individuals.
- Individuals who fail to show up will be charged $20 for the inconvenience. By submitting the registration form, all participants agree to this potential charge for cancellation.
Rules
- For all other rules and regulations that may be unclear, please refer to the IFA rule book linked here, or contact Derrick (9800 5805) / Cody (8671 9349)
Prizes
- Prize money will be awarded as $5 for every person competing in that category. For example, if you win the u70kg U18 category and there are 9 people in that category, you will receive a total of $5 x 9 = $45.
- The prize money is based on the number of unique individuals in each category. Athletes competing in multiple categories will be counted in their lowest participating age and weight class, with age taking precedence over weight. E.g. if there are 5 people in u60kg and 5 in u70kg. If one person competes in both categories, they will be counted in U60. This results in a prize of $25 for u60kg and $20 for u70kg.
- Age prevails over weight when determining the lowest category. For example, if an athlete competes in both U16 70kg+ and U18 u70kg, they will be counted as a unique individual in the U16 category, contributing to the U16 70kg+ prize pool.
- This policy is in place to prevent individuals from signing up in multiple categories with the intent to artificially raise the prize pool.
Dress Code:
- Athletes are required to wear long pants.
- Athletes are required to wear covered shoes.
- Shorts, bermudas, slippers, sandals, crocs, and heels are strictly not allowed.
Qualifications for Open Category
For U16: Top 2 from u60kg, Top 3 from u70kg, Top 4 from 70kg+
For U18: Top 1 from u60kg, Top 2 from u70kg, Top 3 from u80kg, Top 4 from 80+
In the event the same athlete places #1 in multiple weight classes, the athlete will take the #1 spot in the lightest weight category they competed in, and the subsequent places for the heavier categories won will be able to compete in open. (eg. Winning u60kg and u70kg for u18; you would take the u60kg spot to go to opens instead of one of the u70kg spots, while the second and third place will be able to go to opens in u70kg)
*This policy is in place to ensure that the open category is as competitive as possible while giving chances for lower weight classes to compete at the same level*
